Epoxy flooring: surface preparation

Simply applying epoxy to a concrete floor without preparing the surface with a diamond grinder or shot blaster (like Blastrac) is doomed to fail!
Grinding and shot blasting are used to clean and remove contaminants from concrete surfaces and make them more porous and therefore more permeable for the primer layer.
Both methods also create a ridged or undulating surface to increase the contact area between the epoxy and floor.
Diamond grinding is suited to small and medium epoxy floor projects, whereas shot blasting is better for larger projects.
