Epoxy flooring mini glossary

Here’s a brief description of our most popular epoxy concrete coatings and some of their features. The epoxy for all of them is LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
1 – EPOXY FLOOR
This refers to a concrete floor with an epoxy coating. Epoxy is the best known and most used polymer for coating concrete floors.
2– SOLID COLOUR EPOXY FLOOR
This refers to a concrete floor with a solid colour epoxy coating. Strong and easy to clean, this type of epoxy also brightens the room.
3 – METALLIC EPOXY FLOOR
This refers to a concrete floor with a metallic epoxy coating. Metallic epoxy usually consists of one or two solid colour epoxy layers and then an additional clear epoxy layer with metallic pigments. This last layer produces the characteristic cloudy look of metallic epoxy floors.
4 – CLEAR EPOXY FLOOR
This refers to a concrete floor with a clear epoxy coating. Clear epoxy usually consists of at least two layers of water-based clear epoxy. Water-based clear epoxy ensures the natural look of polished concrete remains visible.
5 – QUARTZ EPOXY FLOOR
This refers to a concrete floor with a quartz epoxy coating. Quartz epoxy consists of several layers of epoxy with quartz sand added. Quartz epoxy is prized for its high durability and non-slip surface.
6 – VINYL FLAKED EPOXY FLOOR
This refers to a concrete floor with a vinyl flaked epoxy coating. A solid colour epoxy layer with granite-coloured vinyl flakes is applied, followed by a layer of clear epoxy. Vinyl flaked epoxy coatings are ideal for basement floors and garage floors.
7 – PARKING MEMBRANE
This refers to a concrete floor with a parking membrane coating. A parking membrane consists of several layers of epoxy and sand. It is the ultimate epoxy floor for interior parking spaces.
